When chatting with an AI, like
ChatGPT, the lines seem to blur between genuine human interaction and the fleeting charm of a programmed response. However, the essence of consciousness is something much deeper than intelligent responses or algorithmic analysis. Philosophers & scientists have long debated the meaning of
consciousness and whether it's a uniquely human trait that can or should be applied to AI.
These theories serve as a framework to assess whether AI can achieve similar states of consciousness. Yet, no AI today meets these criteria; thus, the question looms: are we simply perceiving what looks like consciousness, or is it all just a clever ruse?
