2. Choose a Development Platform

There are plenty of Platforms that make building a chatbot easy peasy.
  • DialogFlow: A great tool from Google that simplifies everything.
  • Rasa: If customization is your thing, Rasa might be the one for you.

3. Create a Conversational Flow

Picture this: how a therapist might guide a session. It’s important to brainstorm how the conversation should go. Think of common mental health topics & responses.
  • Use open-ended questions like, “How are you feeling today?”
  • Add response options for users like, “I feel sad” or “I'm anxious”.

4. Test, Test, & Test Again!

Don’t skip this step, It’s crucial! You gotta make sure your chatbot feels natural. I suggest testing with friends:
  • Check for any confusing phrases.
  • Ask if it feels supportive.

Challenges to Keep in Mind

Building a chatbot is not all rainbows & butterflies. There’s some hurdles I faced:
  • Technical Skills: Not everyone is a coding wizard, but don’t fret, many platforms require little to no coding.
  • User Engagement: Sometimes it’s tough to keep users coming back. You gotta make interactions interesting & engaging.
